How does Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) stand out in terms of air accessibility for event professionals?
Despite the challenges faced by the aviation industry in recent years, YQB has grown through its consistent efforts in air service development. We have strengthened our relationships with airlines, including Air France, added destinations, and increased flight capacity and frequency. These actions enable event organizers to offer more direct routes to participants coming from various destinations. We recently launched a new microsite, allowing users to easily view all direct flights to Québec City, making group travel planning simpler.
What services or facilities have been modernized to improve the traveller experience?
We have modernized several aspects of the airport to better meet the needs of travellers, including business travellers and conference attendees. We’ve enhanced our dining and shopping options by partnering with local businesses like Blaxton Pub & Grill, Brûlerie Rousseau by Nourcy, and Atikuss, an Indigenous clothing and accessories maker. These choices showcase our region’s expertise and enhance the passenger experience. Additionally, we continue to offer premium service through our Club Med VIP Lounge, providing a high-end, comfortable space for travellers. These improvements reflect our commitment to delivering a top-tier, accessible, and convenient experience for all.

Does YQB offer specific services for groups during major events?
Absolutely. We work closely with event organizers to simplify logistics for large groups and delegations. Upon arrival, we can set up temporary welcome areas with clearly identified counters, whether for international arrivals or domestic flights. This helps streamline transfers to transportation services like buses or taxis.
We also offer VIP and Signature services, providing personalized assistance throughout the passenger journey. These services include baggage handling, fast check-in, access to the Club Med VIP Lounge, and, if needed, the use of our protocol lounge. Both options ensure a smooth and pleasant experience from arrival to boarding. Our onsite teams also ensure operations run seamlessly and are available to meet group needs at every stage of the process.

What sustainability initiatives have been implemented at the airport in recent years?
YQB consistently takes the necessary steps to ensure its operations and projects are conducted in a way that preserves the physical, human, and organizational environments in which it operates. Specifically, we have implemented geothermal systems and energy-saving measures such as automated lighting, heat recovery, and fresh air control. Through our close collaboration with our airport site partners, we’ve reduced greenhouse gas emissions and achieved Level 3 Optimization under the Airport Carbon Accreditation program. We’ve also electrified part of our vehicle fleet and continue to monitor the noise impact of our activities.
What is YQB’s vision for the coming years?
Our goal is to work hand-in-hand with the region’s key stakeholders to build excitement around our projects and establish the conditions necessary for improving air service and supporting our growth. These objectives have guided our decisions and energized our teams in recent years. Looking forward, we aim to continue in this direction. As a human-scale airport, we want to maintain the close-knit experience our passengers appreciate while continuing to support business tourism and large-scale events.
