Québec City ranked 3rd canadian city for sports events

Quebec, March 8, 2018 - Québec City Business Destination is proud to announce that Québec City ranked 3rd Canadian city for sports events.

Québec City ranks 3rd in Canada for hosting sports events, just behind Montréal and Edmonton. This evaluation’s aim is to rank all cities hosting national sports championships and international sports events in Canada.

This Canadian index also ranks Québec City 5th in two categories; International Sports Host 2018 and National Sports Host 2018. Québec City has hosted 20 national championships and 18 international sports events in 2017.  

The announcement was made at the Sport Events Congress 2018 (SEC18) on March 8, 2018, at the Halifax Convention Centre in Nova Scotia. The annual ranking will be announced every year during the event.  

Developed in partnership with Sportcal, the GSI Canada Index of sport hosting performance is based on national championships and international competitions both hosted in 2017 as well as those national championships/international events currently awarded for 2018 and beyond.
